Did you know that the stethoscope was invented in 1816 by French physician Dr. René Théophile Hyacinthe Laennec?
Before the invention of the stethoscope, doctors often listened to a patient's chest by placing their ear directly against the chest. In 1816, Dr. René Laennec developed the first stethoscope after using a rolled sheet of paper to listen to the chest of a patient.
His invention made it easier to listen to sounds from the heart and lungs and became an important tool in medical examination.
